Artist Statement

My primary concern is to communicate the feeling or emotion of a subject or a scene. I want my paintings to do more than be a record of my subjects. Most of what I paint or sculpt is abstraction or abstracted in some way. I use color, shapes and markings to create an effect rather than attempting to represent real life accurately. Sometimes I paint with no subject in mind at all. I may pick a color or a certain shape or maybe even random markings and work these until a picture develops and completes itself. My art represents my thoughts, life experience and dreams.
